1. What StandByMe is

StandByMe is a verification, record-keeping and trust-profile platform for household employment in India. It gives a worker one portable, verified profile, and gives a household a way to see it.

StandByMe is not the employer of any worker on the platform, does not act as a staffing or placement agency, and does not move salary payments between a household and a worker — salary is recorded here, never processed. StandByMe is not a party to the employment relationship between a household and a worker, and does not guarantee that any work arrangement will be entered into, continued or free of dispute.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old and based in India to use StandByMe.
  • Your phone number is your account identity. Access is by one-time code sent to that number — there is no separate password for a household or worker account.
  • Every user — household or worker — holds one independent account. There is no account-of-record model where a worker exists only as a row inside a household’s account.
  • You are responsible for keeping access to your own phone number secure.

3. Verification

Identity, address and police-verification checks are run through third-party verification providers. StandByMe takes reasonable care in selecting these providers but does not independently confirm every fact a provider returns, and is not liable for an error, omission or delay caused by a provider. A verification result reflects a point in time and expires on the schedule set out in our Privacy Policy; a household relying on a result is responsible for checking whether it is still current.

No check is run on a worker without that worker’s own consent, and no household sees a result without a separate consent for that specific disclosure.

4. Fees and payments

  • A household pays a fee to run or access a worker’s identity verification. Payments are processed through Razorpay; StandByMe does not store your card or bank details.
  • Payment is taken only after the worker has agreed to share the result — not at checkout. A household may cancel for a full refund at any point before that consent is given.
  • If a check fails, or the worker declines to share it, any payment already collected is refunded automatically.
  • A household is never charged twice for a verification result that is still current.

5. Vouches and content you submit

A rating or testimonial (“vouch”) is your own attestation about a worker you have employed, and you are responsible for it being honest. A worker may report a vouch as unfair; StandByMe may review and remove a vouch, with a reason given to the household who submitted it. A removed vouch is excluded from that worker’s trust score and public profile but is kept internally as a record of what was removed and why.

6. Acceptable use

  • Do not provide false identity, employment or verification information.
  • Do not attempt to bypass, automate or falsify a consent or verification step.
  • Do not scrape, index or use StandByMe to build a searchable directory of workers. StandByMe is a record a worker carries between households, not a marketplace for browsing candidates, and using it that way is against these terms regardless of how the data was obtained.
  • Do not attempt to access another user’s account or another person’s data.

7. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms. You may close your account and request erasure of your data at any time from your account’s privacy screen, as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Liability

StandByMe is provided on an “as is” basis. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from your use of the platform is limited to the fees you paid to StandByMe in the twelve months before the claim arose. We are not liable for disputes, losses or damages arising from the employment relationship between a household and a worker, which is between them, not us.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms from time to time; material changes will be posted on this page. Questions can be raised through WhatsApp support, reachable from every screen in the product.
